Exit announcements, media coverage, team updates, and more
November 16, 2022
Last year, Q4, an Upside Member company founded by Darrell Heaps, filed for IPO leading to an Upside exit. Q4 is a capital markets communication company that is transforming the way public companies, investors, and investment banks connect, communicate and engage. With the completion of the IPO, Q4 is looking to pursue various growth strategies through investments in sales and marketing, as well as enhancing and expanding product offerings. Darrell and the team pledged with Upside in 2017 and will be donating the proceeds of his exit to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).
“It has been our pleasure to work with the Upside foundation since 2017 and we are thrilled to be able to deliver an exit to the foundation as part of our 2021 IPO.” Said Darrell “We are proud that the proceeds from the exit are able to be donated to CAMH and their innovative work with mental health.”

Q4 is donating their Upside to CAMH. CAMH is Canada's largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world's leading research centres in its field. Q4’s donation will go towards the groundbreaking research being done to develop innovative health promotion and preventive strategies.
“At a time when mental health is top of mind for many businesses, we’re grateful that Q4 is generously supporting the life-saving work of CAMH. It inspires Canadians to take action and reminds people living with mental illness they are not alone in their recovery. This support enables CAMH to accelerate research and discovery, advance care and improve outcomes, and move us closer to a world where mental health is health for everyone.”
–Deborah Gillis, President & CEO, CAMH Foundation
The Upside Foundation's philanthropic model enables founders of early-stage, high-growth companies to build social responsibility into their business by donating small portions of equity to charity. Q4’s acquisition has enabled the Foundation to facilitate almost $3 million in charitable donations.
“Our mission is to enable Canadian startups to align their business success with a greater social impact. Q4 has been an Upside Member since 2017 and been extremely generous with their time playing an active role in our community. It brings us great joy to see their growth over the years, resulting in a donation to a very important cause."
–Maria O’Reilly, General Manager, The Upside Foundation of Canada
Congratulations to Darrell and the team at Q4 on this achievement, and your incredible commitment to your community!
